Approximately 200 petitioners, hearing of Wen’s planned departure from Beijing South Railway Station, gathered and blocked the road to the station, demanding to see him.

On May 9, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao was scheduled to board a train at the Beijing South Railway Station. According to reports on websites outside China, approximately 200 petitioners, hearing of Wen’s planned departure, gathered and blocked the road to the station, demanding to see him. Beijing police rushed to the scene, but did not take violent action against the petitioners.
