Peter Ldhituachi Simani, a lawyer, has been identified as one of the victims in the Westgate mall attack.

Simani was a senior partner and proprietor of Simani and Associates, a private law firm, and the board director of the Communications Commission of Kenya.

“I am saddened to announce the untimely death of Mr. Peter Ldhituachi Simani in the hands of the criminals who attacked innocent people at the Westgate Shopping Mall last weekend,” said Ben Gituku, board chairman of the commission, in a Facebook post on Monday.

“Having served with him at the CCK Board, I can confirm that Kenya has lost a brilliant lawyer with an incisive and highly analytical mind. My Board highly relied on his guidance in making decisions on intricate legal issues touching on the regulation of the fast-growing ICT sector.”

Simani was also chairman of the Political Parties Dispute Tribunal.

Simani graduated from the University of Nairobi with a Bachelor of Laws, and also held a Diploma of Laws from the Kenya school of Law.

He was a member of multiple professional organizations, including the Law Society of Kenya, the International Commission of Jurists, and the International Bar Association.
