A suspect has been arrested in Virginia after the body of a mother who had vanished from her front yard was found on Thursday, March 1.

The body was discovered one mile from the home of TerriLynn St. John, 23, in Middlesex.

The body was covered with leaves in Pine Top, along Barricks Mill Road.

An acquaintance of St. Johns, Alvin Keyser, 23, was arrested, reported WTVR.

After the body was found and Keyser was arrested, the sheriff’s office said at a press conference that more charges are expected and more people will be interviewed.

Keyser made statements on social media that prompted the sheriff’s office to investigate him.

“The closure on this is not good closure, but it is closure,” said Middlesex Sheriff’s Major Michael Sampson.

Police officers and family members previously said that evidence from the scene indicated that St. John was outside in her front yard preparing to take her children to daycare when she vanished.

There were signs of a struggle including her cellphone being in the bushes and a broken necklace in the yard.

“They looked through the woods and you could definitely tell there has been a struggle beside my daughter’s car,” her father Terry St. John told WTVR. “Jewelry was all around, like it had been broken off, her cell phone was found in the bushes.”
Investigators told reporters they had identified four persons of interest, reported WRIC, adding that those individuals were being interviewed.

Investigators said Terry St. John arrived at the home to find the front door open and his daughter’s two small children inside.

A search of the area commenced, including officers scouring nearby beaches and lakes.

Investigators said anyone with information should call the police and are hoping someone from the community can provide intelligence that helps solve the case.
