Patrón Highcroft Racing will be using Internet technology to bring its fans real-time pit reports, track details, team updates and race recaps.

The popular American le Mans Series team, in response to its growing fan base, is expanding its online offerings to give fans more ways to get involved.

“We are certainly aware that Patrón Highcroft Racing has become extremely popular with the fans and our goal for 2009 is to reward those fans with even greater behind-the-scenes access,” said team owner, Duncan Dayton.

Patrón Highcroft Racing already offers extensive information on the Highcroft Racing website and sponsor Tequila Patrón’s site. In addition, video content is available on iTunes and on YouTube. (Check out this video from the 2008 Lime Rock ALMS race , for example.)

This year, the team is expanding with a fansite on Facebook, and Twitter updates from the pits at every race.

The Facebook site will offer samples from the Highcroft Racing and Tequila Patrón sites, plus its own exclusive content. The site will also allow Patrón Highcroft fans from around the world to meet, to post their own photos and videos, and to share comments on the team, the cars, and the races. (To become a fan of the team on Facebook, visit http://www.highcroftracing.com/facebook.)

Further, Patrón Highcroft will be using micro-blogging service Twitter to provide fans with up-to-the-minute pit lane reports from right from the race track.

Twitter is a new service which allows short messages and links to be sent to computers, PDAs and cellphones. Patrón Highcroft fans will be able to get real-time insider info on their cellphones while at the track, or via the Internet at home. (To sign up for the Twitter reports, visit http://www.twitter.com/patronhighcroft.)

“These online initiatives are a great way to reward that fan loyalty. We can’t have every single fan join us in the pit lane, but these online tools will allow us to do that virtually,” explained Patrón Highcroft Racing team owner, Duncan Dayton. “We are really looking at the web as not only just building our own brand on our own site, but taking our message to sites where the online community is already visiting on daily basis like Facebook, YouTube, etc.”

Patrón Highcroft Racing will make its 2009 American Le Mans Series debut at the 57th running of the Sebring 12 Hour race on March 22, 2009.
