Baltimore kicker Billy Cundiff missed a game-tying 32-yard field goal with 11 seconds remaining as the New England Patriots (15-3) held off a last-minute rally by the Ravens (13-5) to win 23–20 and advance to the franchise’s seventh Super Bowl.

Baltimore quarterback Joe Flacco appeared to connect with receiver Lee Evans temporarily in the end zone just two plays earlier, but the ball was knocked out of his hands after catching it. The play was not officially reviewed.

Flacco finished 22/36 passing for 306 yards and a pair of touchdown passes. His counterpart, Tom Brady, was also 22/36 passing but was picked off twice by Baltimore.

New England that had the fewest giveaways in the AFC for the season with 17, gave it away to the Ravens three times, while Baltimore turned it over just once.
