Former Pastor Brent Girouex of Iowa was arrested on 60 counts of suspicion of sexual exploitation, it was reported.
Girouex admitted to having sexual relations with at least four children, but eight more have stepped forward to claim they were abused, reported KRMG-TV.
He told police that the relationships lasted for four years.
Victims in the case told officials that the sexual encounters took place at his home.
Authorities are investigating the case and he is free on $30,000 bond.
Last week, a judge gave him a 17-year-long sentence but suspended it to allow him to get sex offender treatment and probation, the station reported.
“In my line of work, I get to see the worst of the worst, and this is pretty bad,” said Pottawattamie County Attorney Matt Wilber, according to KETV. “The only way that I can truly say this won’t happen to somebody else is for us to get a full picture of what we’ve got, and then we can present that full picture to the court,” Wilber added.
