The little things that we always take for granted may mean so much to those who don’t have them. A sweet video showing a partially deaf boy wearing his first pair of hearing aids may just make you cry and smile at the same time.

Jen Denman, from Liverpool, England, has a 5-month-old son named Alex, who was born with bilateral moderate sensorineural hearing loss, rendering him partially deaf.

In mid-July 2018, Denman brought Alex to the Alder Hey Children’s Hospital to have his first pair of hearing aids fitted.

Alex’s face instantly lit up with joy as he heard his mother’s voice for the first time.

“Hi! It’s Mommy. Mommy,” Denman said.

Wide-eyed, Alex gazed at his mom in amazement with a beautiful smile on his face.

This magical moment filmed by Denman and posted by Alder Hey Children’s Hospital on Twitter has gone viral, garnering over 845,000 views.

“Today I moaned about something that is not really worth it!!! This is amazing and puts life into perspective,” one Twitter user wrote.

Denman didn’t expect the video would spread like wildfire on social media.

Speaking on British talk show This Morning, Denman said: “It was only meant for family and friends. And it just went crazy [from there].”

According to Denman, Alex will be wearing hearing aids for life, and the family is learning sign language to communicate better with him.

At the moment, there’s one thing Denman has to worry about: Alex has the habit of pulling off his hearing aids to gnaw on them.

“We’ve got little stick and stays to put on so he doesn’t pull them off as much,” Denman said.

Though Alex’s condition is not curable, he has a loving family who will always rally behind him.

Alex, may you grow up to be as beautiful inside as you are on the outside!
