Frightening footage has been released by police warning parents to keep an eye on their children at all times, after a would-be kidnapper nearly abducted a little girl in broad daylight from a hotel parking lot in Australia.
The security camera video released by Queensland Police shows a woman park her car at the Emerald Hotel in the city of Emerald, Australia, at around 4:50 pm on Thursday, Dec. 28, and exit the car with a child.
A white Toyota pickup truck pulls up alongside the parked vehicle as the mother walks one of the children into the building.
A man jumps out of the pickup and walks a few paces behind the woman, before turning and appearing to look intently at the unaccompanied 8-year-old girl.
He then walks back to his truck and appears to take something from his truck, while looking around the empty parking lot.
Leaving the door to his pickup truck open, the man briskly proceeds to the woman’s car, opens the passenger door, and reaches inside.
As the man tries to grab the girl, she begins screaming, Queensland police wrote, which cannot be heard in the silent footage.
The man pulls back and quickly walks back to his vehicle.
As the man gets into his truck, a hotel staff member can be seen wheeling a trolley across the parking lot.
The man is then seen making a quick getaway.
Police say the girl was not injured in the incident.
The alleged would-be kidnapper is described by police as “caucasian in appearance with a proportionate build and was last seen wearing a green T-shirt, dark shorts, and sandals.”
The vehicle is described by police as a white Toyota Hilux utility vehicle with a green bin in the back.
The police are now trying to track down the man who apparently tried to snatch the girl.
This is a developing story.
