Katy Patten and her husband were excited to learn they were going to have twins to add to their growing family.
But excitement turned to sadness when, after an early forced labor, the twin babies passed away after a few short days.
The couple has decided to remember the twins as part of the family, despite the early deaths. Their memory wall includes the footprints of the infants before they passed, but the family also wanted to do something a little unusual to cement the memory of the twins as part of the brood.
Aiden and Gavin, the twins, couldn’t be there for the family portrait session, but photographer Linda Gittins helped them add the twins’ in with Photoshop in a unique way.
Katy’s other two children, 3-year-old Ava and little Giuliana, are connected to the parents in the touching picture–and holding the hand of Ava, and the hand of the father, are shadows symbolizing the twins.
While Linda, who owns Lula B. Photography, executed the concept, it was mom Katy who came up with it.
