ZURICH—Mr. Bernd Raymar Alder, a painter and owner of an art gallery, attended the opening night of the 2012 Shen Yun Performing Arts International Company’s performance at the Kongresshaus in Zurich on March 21.
“Tonight I was handed a most positive surprise, especially as I’m a fan of Asian art. But, most of all, I was impressed with the modern part of the show, more clearly, the people that meditated in a park,” he said, speaking of Falun Gong practitioners that are experiencing an unprecedented persecution in today’s China.
He continued, “What I have seen tonight points clearly that life in modern China is not easy. I believe that this part of the show was an excellent idea, bringing it to the public diplomatically, instead of a frontal attack. This is what impressed me the most.”
The Shen Yun Orchestra, a combination of traditional Chinese and Western Instruments, caught his eye and ear and he spoke admiringly about it.
“What I also enjoyed very much and what I found quite impressive was the orchestra. It was terrific. The music coming from the orchestra pit provided an emotional aspect to the show. Combined with the performances and thirdly, the pictures on the backdrop provided something similar to a third dimension and the total effect was fascinating.”
Shen Yun strengthened his belief that things will turn out as they should in the future.
“What has been strengthened in my mind is that one shouldn’t be affected negatively about some political aspects happening in China today. Instead I should remember the 5,000-year-old culture and keep faith that in the end everything will work out. Also, the roots have been laid [with Shen Yun].”
On leaving for the evening he said, “I found great pleasure this evening. I will invite my friends to the show and recommend the Shen Yun to others.”
“I’m leaving with a positive feeling for the future and a positive feeling for the entire world.”
New York-based Shen Yun Performing Arts has three touring companies that perform simultaneously around the world. Shen Yun Performing Arts International Company will next perform in Frankfurt, Germany from March 30-31.
