Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers has a very simple way of explaining the complicated. “My style has always been to throw to the open guy,” said the league’s highest-rated passer after defeating Oakland 46–16 on Sunday, December 11.

The strategy has clearly worked well for the Super Bowl MVP. The fourth-year signal-caller is enjoying one of the greatest seasons in the history of the league. Not only does he have the undefeated Packers on pace for possibly the greatest season ever, Rodgers himself is on pace to break Peyton Manning’s single-season record for highest quarterback rating (121.1) set in 2004.

Through 13 games, the fourth-year starter from California is sitting at 123.3.

Whether or not the 28-year old is even thinking about individual NFL immortality seems doubtful. The bigger accomplishment—a 16-0 season—isn’t something he cares to discuss. “We'll start with 14-0,” Rodgers explained simply—as usual.
