It was an Outrageous weekend in Hebe Haven when the Dubois 43 came out on top after two days of racing in the Hong Kong administered HKPN division of the Kowloon Cup 2013.

The Hebe Haven Yacht Club’s Kowloon Cup 2013 featured an Islands Race on Race Day 1 (Saturday Jan 19) and a Pursuit Race on Race Day 2 (Sunday Jan 20) in two divisions. There were 17 entrants in the HKPN division, 8 of which have IRC ratings allowing for a different handicap system to apply in that division.

In HKPN, although Outrageous finished fifth on Race Day 1 the Gerry Daughton skippered boat dominated the next day on Race Day 2—where the course and conditions suited her ideally—to take the series.

Mojito came second overall having placed seventh and second in the two races respectively; while, Vixen came third overall with a consistent performance coming fourth and fifth in the two races.

Day 1’s Islands Race podium placings were very different from Day 2’s with Ichiban first, R.B. second and Windseeker third. The three slipped on Day 2 with Windseeker finishing eighth, R.B. ninth and Ichiban eleventh. Overall HKPN results show that R.B., Ichiban and Windseeker finished fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.

While it should be noted that these overall results are provisional corrected ones after HKPN ratings have been applied, the fact remains that Outrageous had an excellent Pursuit Race on Sunday to come from fifth in the Islands Race the previous day to win the regatta outright.

Of the eight boats that have international classification competing in the IRC division, Mojito provisionally won overall after corrected time, Outrageous came second and the consistent Vixen again came third, as she did in the HKPN division.
