Orlando Bloom married Aussie supermodel Miranda Kerr in secret, sources say. News of the celebrity couple’s wedding came out through David Jones – a luxury Australian retail chain.
“Given the exciting news that Miranda and Orlando have recently wed and will be enjoying their honeymoon together, Miranda unfortunately will not be with us,” a David Jones spokeperson said, explaining why Kerr will not attend the store’s spring/summer fashion launch on August 3.
The couple met at a 2006 Victoria’s Secret lingerie show in New York and started dating in July 2007. Bloom proposed last June and their engagement was announced on June 21.
Bloom, 33, is arguably one of Hollywood’s top actors. He enjoyed a breakthrough playing woodland elf Legolas in Lord of the Rings, and Will Turner in Pirates of the Caribbean. The British actor recently received an honorary degree from the University of Kent, early this July.
Kerr, 27, a face of David Jones and a Victoria Secret model, told the New York Post in 2008 that she would like to settle down in the country. Her dream, she said, is to live in a solar-powered house and grow a vegetable patch and raise a family there. She was raised in the country town of Gunnedah, Australia.
Gunnedah Mayor Adam Marshall offered to organise a street parade to honour the couple led by the town’s award-winning brass band if they were to decide to wed there.
