Riders on the Bay Area Rapid Transit reported on Wednesday night that smoke was engulfing a train at the Orinda station.
The California Highway Patrol said that there was a “exercise” at the station, according to an alert.
The alert is no longer on the patrol’s website, according to independent journalist Matthew Keys.
A local fire department said that there is no sign of fire, despite all the smoke.
BART said that smoke is from an equipment problem, and that there is a “major delay” at Orinda in the PITT and SFO directions due to the problem.
