Suspenders, also called braces, or “wires” by my tailor who can barely speak any English, have a long history in menswear. They go in and out of fashion. Famously, in the movie “Wall Street,” Gordon Gekko wore them as a power flex. They do look smart but are now somehow forever associated with the 1980s.
