The Growing Ignorance of the Benefits of Marriage—and Why It’s Dangerous

A large percentage of Americans don’t know or outright disagree that marriage builds stronger families and is linked to better well-being for children, according to the annual American Family Survey. This is despite the fact that such benefits have been proven time and again. These attitudes may be due in part to the fact that nearly half of all U.S. children today spend at least part of their childhood in a nonintact family.
