TAIPEI, Taiwan—After watching Shen Yun Performing Arts New York Company’s second performance at the Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall on the afternoon of March 21, Ms. Xie Qiongrong, executive manager of the Hsu Ya-fen Fine Arts Opera, spoke highly of the performance: “Nothing in life is better and appreciated more than experiencing such a magnificent artistic feast.”

“The design of the scenes, lighting and sound effects, as well as the synchronization of the dances and music are perfect. The combination of hi-tech and traditional culture is very creative and brings much enjoyment, ” she said.

Marveling at the Shen Yun Orchestra’s superb performance, Ms. Xie Qiongrong said: “As it has done what others cannot do, there must be God’s blessing in it. I felt so great. Such an artistic performance is indeed hard to come by.”

“Shen Yun’s one-of-a-kind orchestra, with its all-original compositions, blends East and West like no other. The distinctly Chinese sound of ancient instruments like the erhu and the pipa are bathed in a rich sea of Western strings, percussion, woodwinds, and brass. The result—two great classical music traditions producing one fresh, unexpected sound,” states Shen Yun’s website.

‘Extraordinary’

The deputy director of the Hsu Ya-fen Fine Arts Opera, Ms. Xie Minfen, was also in the audience. She also praised the performance, saying, “Shen Yun’s performance is indeed so fabulous and eye-catching.”

She was taken by the magnificence of the dynamic backdrops and was inspired by them. “I feel like applying them to our shows,” she said.

“Classical Chinese dance is a unique, comprehensive art form characterized by a multitude of intricate poses and movements that are integrated with a dancer’s inner expression,” according to the Shen Yun website.

Ms. Xie Minfen said of the dance artists, “Through their body movements, it is easy for me to understand what they wanted to express from their hearts.”

“Shen Yun performers’ body movements and dance steps were indeed very delicate, and the overall flow of the dances was very smooth. ... What they performed was very extraordinary,” Ms. Xie Minfen added.
