One Dead After Roof Collapse at Western Australia’s Curtin University

A person has died, and at least two men have been taken to hospital after a building partially collapsed at Western Australia’s Curtin University on Tuesday afternoon.

It is understood that a glass ceiling is to have collapsed in what is believed to be the School of Design and the Built Environment building, which under construction at the university’s Bentley campus in Perth.

Both injured men in their twenties have been taken to the Royal Perth Hospital with multiple injuries.

A construction vehicle is also believed to have been crushed as a result of the collapse The West Australian reported on Tuesday.
WA Police, Department of Fires Emergency and Services, as well as St. John’s Ambulance, are on the scene.

Students have been sent a text alert advising “There has been an accident on the construction site of Building 418” and to avoid the area.

Police, ambulance and fire rescuers are in attendance, along with WorkSafe officials.
