Once Upon a Time Season 4 Cast: Producer Casting for New ‘Frozen’ Characters

Casting is underway for the “Frozen” characters being introduced into the Once Upon a Time universe in season 4.

Elsa, Anna, and Kristoff have been confirmed to appear in the upcoming season of the hit ABC show, which will premiere this fall.

Elsa was briefly seen at the end of season 3 but only from the back, enabling Once producers to have time to cast the role.

Idina Menzel and Kristen Bell, who voice Elsa and Anna in the animated movie, could very well be cast as the roles in real life. Co-creators and producers Adam Horowitz and Adam Kitsis confirmed that an offer was extended to them both.

Other actresses rumored for Elsa include Elizabeth Mitchell and Maggie Grace, both known for their turns in the hit show Lost.

Horowitz teased fans with a picture during casting for the role of Anna. “Casting for #OnceUponATime season 4! Hard at work! Hope to see ya this fall!” he said excitedly.

Horowitz and Kitsis say they’ll stay true to the essence of the characters and that Arendelle will likely be explored in the show as well.

“We’re not going to redo the movie, because we just don’t feel like it’s in anyone’s interest for us to redo it,” Horowitz told Entertainment Weekly.

“But what we are going to do, we’re not ready to tell you. But what we can say is we’re very aware of what we think makes this character from ‘Frozen’ so special and we want to honor that and make sure that what we do is in the universe of (what) everyone fell in love with this past year.”
