A woman in Oklahoma was arrested on Friday after she ran over her 11-year-old son and drove away with her toddler son while under the influence, said police.

The Rogers County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Ashley Blizzard, 31, was trying to leave her home near Foyil when her husband and son tried to stop her after noticing that she may have been under the influence of drugs, according to local station Fox23.

As the woman was about to get into her vehicle with the 2-year-old, the older son attempted to stop her by opening the driver’s side door and tried to grab the steering while, said police.

But Blizzard still drove away and hit the 11-year-old with the driver’s side door, according to an arrest report that was obtained by the local station. As reported by Tulsa’s KTUL, he fell to the ground and his hands were run over by the car.

Deputies pulled over Blizzard and said her toddler was in the front seat without any type of child restraint. Drug paraphernalia was also found in the vehicle, according to police.

She was taken to the Rogers County Jail, and she now faces charges of child abuse, driving under the influence, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police told local outlet News on 6 that her husband, who was not identified, told Blizzard not to drive but she did so anyway, leading to her son to try and intervene.

Foyil, located in Rogers County, has a population of about 344, and is around 40 miles northeast of Tulsa.
