An unnamed source told a tabloid that O.J. Simpson steals cookies in prison.

But officials told the LA Times that the allegations are untrue.

“There is no validity to the reports that inmate Simpson was caught stealing cookies,” said a spokesman for the Nevada Department of Corrections.

According to the allegations, Simpson stuffed more than a dozen oatmeal cookies into his shirt, but guards stopped him on his way out of the cafeteria.

They seized the cookies, to the amusement of fellow inmates.

“O.J. just stood there with a goofy grin on his face as the guard kept digging inside his shirt and throwing the cookies on the floor,'” an unnamed source told the National Enquirer.

Simpson is in jail at the Lovelock Correctional Center in Nevada.

He’s been in jail since 2008, when he was sentenced to 33 years for multiple charges, stemming from what he said was an attempt to regain his sports memorabilia from dealers, according to the LA Times. He was convicted on charges that included kidnapping, robbery, and burglary.

Simpson has asked for a new trial, saying that his former lawyer on the case performed poorly. A weeklong hearing on the issue was held in May; Clark County District Judge Linda Marie Bell hasn’t made a ruling yet since then on whether to hold a new trial.
