Ohio Mom of 3 Dies Days After Crash That Killed Fiance and and Children: Officials

A mother of three has died several days after a car crash that left her children and fiance dead, officials said.

Muriel Michael, the mother, died from injuries she suffered after a two-car crash in Ohio over the past weekend, the Ohio State Highway Patrol told The Associated Press.

Michael was driving in Fulton County over the weekend when an SUV driver failed to stop, hitting her vehicle. The SUV driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.

Also killed in the collision were Xavier Brown, 25, of Wauseon; Deklin Jankowski, 9; Aurora Michael, 7, and Riggs Brown, 1, according to an obituary.

“Five beautiful angels left this earthly place to be amongst the stars this week of March 26, 2022,” an online obituary read. “Both of our families are saddened to lose these five souls, but know they are together during the greatest journey there is in heaven.”

It continued: “If you knew this family, you would know they were exceptional from day one.”

Authorities told AP that the crash is under investigation. The identity of the other driver was not disclosed.

“Today’s loss of two Evergreen Elementary students and their family members is devastating to the Viking community. On behalf of Evergreen Local Schools, our hearts, prayers, and condolences go out to all who were involved in the tragic auto accident,” said Evergreen Local Schools in a statement to local media.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Michael was driving on County Road 14 in Clinton Township at around 11:45 p.m. local time, with Brown in the passenger seat. Three children were in the back seat.

Authorities said a 21-year-old was driving the SUV and failed to yield at a stop sign when the crash occurred, 13ABC reported.

Sgt. Ryan Purpura, with the Ohio State Highway Patrol, told the outlet that no charges have yet to be filed.

“It’s a tragic reminder of what can happen behind the wheel,” Purpura said. “It’s a reminder to make sure you wear a seatbelt and any kind of measures you can do yourself behind the wheel to make sure you are safe.”
