Orange County Health Care Agency (OCHCA) officials advised swimmers to avoid coastal waters Oct. 25 after a massive rainstorm made its way down to the Southland.

“Swimmers should avoid coastal waters impacted by discharging storm drains, creeks, and rivers, and beach users should avoid contact with any runoff on the beach during dry or wet weather conditions,” OCHA said in a statement.

The increase of bacteria may be present for three days following the initial storm, OCHCA officials said.
