Still riding high on newfound celebrity after stopping a vicious knife attack on Feb. 22, the city of Jerusalem posted Internet meme pictures of the mayor on the city’s official Facebook page.
The four photos include Mayor Nir Barkat walking away from a massive explosion, his head photoshopped into a scene from “The Matrix” stopping bullets, and another photo of him in front of a Batman costume. The main photo features Barkat’s head photoshopped onto the body of a famous photo of Chuck Norris with a partially open shirt as he brandishes two uzis.
The only comment from the Municipality of Jerusalem on the posted montage of photos reads: “We just put it here.”
Barkat, a former paratrooper in the Israeli army, has been mayor of Jerusalem since 2008.
He and his security detail were driving through the city on Sunday when they spotted a man with a knife in the street who had just attacked someone and was lunging toward a crowd. They wrestled the man to the ground and held him until police came.
The entire encounter was captured on city surveillance video.
