SUWANEE, Ga.—A sheriff’s office in suburban Atlanta says three people have been killed and two wounded in a shooting at a home northeast of the city.

Forsyth County Sheriff’s Maj. Rick Doyle says the suspected shooter is one of the two wounded people. He says the suspect is known among officers from previous arrests.

Doyle, who is director of operations for the sheriff’s department, says authorities think the shootings occurred around 6 a.m. Wednesday in the residence along Old Atlanta Road.

Identities of those involved were not immediately released.

The area where authorities think the shooting occurred, about 30 miles outside the city, includes some of metro Atlanta’s most exclusive neighborhoods. Old Atlanta Road winds past golf course communities and expansive homes in a heavily wooded area.
