Since its inception more than a month ago, Occupy Wall Street-derived protests have emerged throughout the U.S.
Demonstrations have popped up in Washington D.C., Los Angeles, San Francisco, Oakland, Seattle, Las Vegas, Austin, Texas, and in other cities. On Friday, it was announced that the owners of Zuccotti Park in Lower Manhattan near Wall Street suspended the routine cleaning, allowing protesters to remain there.

Social media sites including Facebook and Reddit have enabled organizers to better coordinate their efforts to spread the word about regional demonstrations. Meanwhile, the movement has been bolstered by celebrities including filmmaker Michael Moore, actor Tim Robbins, and musician Kanye West.
As a result, the collective consciousness of America, with the help of extensive media coverage, has become aware of the protests.
A poll from Time magazine released on Friday found the protests have garnered a favorable public opinion. Around 54 percent of respondents rated the Wall Street demonstrations positively, with 25 percent saying they rated it “very favorably,” according to the publication.
