Obama said he again asks Congress to close the prison. “Given my administration’s relentless pursuit of al-Quadia’s leadership, there is no justification beyond politics for Congress to prevent us from closing a facility that never should have been opened,” he said.
The woman, later revealed to be Medea Benjamin, co-founder of advocacy group Code Pink, was outspoken about the people locked into the prison, which is highly controversial.
“Let me finish my sentence,” Obama repeated several times, along with other phrases to try to get the woman to stop talking.
Benjiman was eventually escorted out of the speech.
