President Barack Obama’s campaign said on Monday that it raised $53 million in March.
The funds will not only go toward Obama’s re-election bid, but will go toward funding Democratic members of Congress in November.
In all, the campaign has raised more than $350 million during this election season. The donations in March to the Obama campaign were an improvement over the $45 million donated in February. His campaign received around $29 million in January.
More than 567,000 people gave to Obama’s campaign in March, of which 190,000 were first-time donors.
“We’re all going to have to dig even deeper, work even harder, move even faster,” campaign manager Jim Messina said in a video. “It’s going to take all of us working together.”
Obama’s presumed rival, Mitt Romney, will release his fundraising totals for March later in the week.
