An NYPD recruit from Long Island passed away on Nov. 14 after a short battle with leukemia.

Jake Siciliano, 23, was diagnosed with cancer three months into his NYPD training.

The aspiring cop passed away at Mount Sinai Hospital one month after being admitted, reported the New York Daily News.

Siciliano had just gotten engaged to his fiancée, Ashlee Ragusano, on Oct. 1, according to Ragusano’s Facebook page.

In a touching message on Facebook, Ragusano paid tribute to Siciliano.

The young recruit was considered to be on active duty, even after hospitalization, reported the Daily News, citing police sources.

During Siciliano’s hospitalization, friends set up a number of fundraisers on GoFundMe and sold T-shirts to raise money to cover medical costs.

As of Nov. 15, almost $21,000 had been raised on GoFundMe, which will go to supporting Siciliano’s family and fiancée.
