NEW YORK—To the delight of Latino families across New York City, Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg announced the launch of the “NYC TV Kids Presents V-me niños” initiative, which brings innovative educational programming delivered in Spanish to children of 2 to 7 years of age.

The first-of-a-kind offering fills a void for Spanish-speaking residents, while also promoting Latino culture and Spanish language. The initiative was developed in exclusive partnership between the city-owned television station NYC TV and a nation-wide Spanish network V-me.

“New York City’s diversity and unique cultural perspective is one of our greatest strengths, and providing programming that reflects our communities is what makes our municipal television station so successful,” noted Mayor Bloomberg. “The launch of the NYC TV Kids Presents V-me Niños programming block speaks volumes about NYC Media Group’s continued efforts to be innovative and relevant to all New Yorkers, including our littlest New Yorkers,” he added.

The new programming includes the Spanish version of “Sesame Street” (“Plaza Sésamo”), Spain’s famous “The Baby Triplets” (“Las Tres Mellizas Bebés”), “Bruno & the Banana Bunch” (“Bruno y los Banana Amigos”) and other shows promoting healthy eating and fitness habits, reading, learning and social development through animation, story-telling, live action and music. The new programming is offered in the mornings Mondays through Fridays on NYC TV Channel 25.

“NYC TV Kids Presents V-me Niños is great news for New Yorkers of all ages who are interested in the Spanish language,” enthusiastically stated the Acting President of the NYC Media Group Katherine Oliver.
