A New York woman has found her birth mother just days after calling for help on Facebook.

Bethany Conrad, 29, of Cortland, posted on the popular social media website last week, asking for assistance locating her birth mother.

The post shows Conrad holding a sign with text on it.

“My name is Bethany J. Conrad. I am 29 years old. Born April 17, 1988. From Oswego, NY. I was born with cleft lip & palate. I am looking for my birth mother. She was 13-14 years old when she gave birth to me. She was in foster care at the time. I was given up for adoption,” Conrad wrote.

“Placed in Catholic Charities of Syracuse, NY. I had a closed adoption, and am currently on the N.Y. adoption registry in all hopes to find her. Please share all around! Thank you!”

Thousands of people shared the post and less than a week later, the birth mother was found.

On Monday, Jan. 29, Conrad and her mother met for the first time since she was given up, WBNG reported.
She told the broadcaster after the search had started that she would be happy even if she met her birth mother just once.

“Even if we just meet once that’s okay. Once would make up for any time that I haven’t seen her, or anytime we feel like we’ve lost,” Conrad added.

Conrad was excited prior to the meeting.

“I have no doubt in my mind,” Conrad said in a Facebook message to CNY Central.

“I spoke with her today, and can not wait to meet her. She named me when she had me. She knew that name. I have siblings and can not wait to meet them. I am so thankful and grateful.”

A picture Conrad posted on Facebook appeared to show a meeting between the two.
