New York Fashion Week began on Thursday, showcasing the latest styles and looks for the upcoming year. However, this year, the week-long event is not being held at Bryant Park as usual but at Lincoln Center.
An estimated 100,000 designers, stylists, celebrities, buyers, and others are to attend the event. Mayor Michael Bloomberg on Wednesday went to the Lincoln Center and renamed the 1 train subway line “The Fashion Line” for the remainder of Fashion Week, which ends Sept. 16.
“For years, the famed fashion tents have drawn people from all over the world to New York City, and the buzz is even greater this year with it debuting at its new home at Lincoln Center,” Bloomberg said.
He added that the event generates hundreds of millions of dollars each year for the local economy.
