No one likes getting shots, as a grown-up you have to sit pretty and pretend it doesn’t hurt, but kids don’t. They are allowed to kick and scream and not take it lying down. This nurse seems to know this better than most, and she has a unique way of getting kids through their shots, as you’ll see in this video.
This little boy has to get a blood test and three shots. That’s enough shots to make anyone recoil in horror, and he knows what he’s up for. He’s been prepped and his mom and dad are willing to give him five dollars if he doesn’t cry.
The nurse gets him up on the table and he looks nervous. “I’m gonna show you a magic trick, and then we’re gonna paint,” she says. The little boy smiles, “I thought I was gonna get shots!” he smiles.
The nurse reassures him that they’re just going to paint, so she gets him to show her his hand, and then his finger, and quickly pricks it. “Now watch this magic,” she says, and squeezes a little blood out and presses it onto the paper.
She wraps the cotton wool around his finger and he looks at his mom in shock, “I didn’t cry!” he says. The nurse puts a band-aid on his finger and then prepares for the big three. The poor kid doesn’t know what’s coming.
“For my next trick you have to hug me real hard,” she says. She gets him to squeeze his eyes shut, she quickly gives him the shot and puts on a band-aid. Again, he’s pretty proud he didn’t cry. She does the other arm. He relaxes. He thinks it’s over.
“Last hug,” she says. By this point he is understandably, less on board with her magic tricks, and he lets out a little scream before it’s all over. “Done!” she says. “Now go get your five bucks!”
He jumps off the table, takes his five bucks from the nurse and walks over to his mom and dad, who are laughing pretty hysterically, as he looks at his arms as if for evidence of what she’s done.
