59 fires are burning across New South Wales in Australia on Tuesday, forcing evacuations across the state.

Premier Barry O'Farrell has told parliament more than 500 firefighters are responding to the fires, reported the AAP

One home is on fire and two firefighters are injured as the Cranebrook school was evacuated and the University of Western Sydney’s Hawkesbury campus was closed, reported the Sydney Morning Herald

Simon Louis, from the Bureau of Meteorology, said that winds in west Sydney are averaging 21 to 27 miles per hour, spreading the fires amid hot and dry conditions.
