Nose leaking brain fluid: An Arizona man has found out that his runny nose, which was a constant phenomenon, was actually the result of his brain leaking fluid.

Doctors were forced to perform surgery on Joe Nagy after they spotted the problem, reported KSAZ-TV.

“Brooop! This clear liquid dribbled out of my nose like tears out of your eyes. I go what is this?” he told the station.

He said that the runny nose got worse and worse over time. “Once or twice a week. Then pretty soon it was all the time,” he said.

When he took medicine, the runny nose did not stop.

“I got to the point where I had tissues all the time. in my pocket full of tissues always had them all folded up,” he added.

Nagy went to a specialist, who told him the real cause of his problem.

“I was scared to death if you want to know the truth,” Nagy said after learning the news.

Barrow Neurological Institute neurosurgeon Peter Nakaji told the station he was able to fix Nagy’s problem. “These leaks can be very very tiny, a little like a puncture on a bicycle tire, that sometimes you have trouble even finding where it is,” he said.

“If you look right here you can see a little tiny hole. You see a little bit of what looks like running water,” he elaborated.

Last year, an Arizona woman nearly died after brain fluid leaked out of her nose for more than four months. At the time, doctors told the woman, Aundrea Aragon, that it was allergies, reported ABC News in December.

Ultimately, it was determined that her brain was leaking cerebrospinal fluid from the back of her sphenoid sinus.

“I was very fortunate. They said I could get meningitis and go into a coma and die,” she said.
