Nissan Motor Co. Ltd., Japan’s third-largest automaker, on Wednesday announced a recall of 540,000 vehicles to fix issues related to brake pedals and fuel gauges.

The recall affects mainly Nissan-branded pickup trucks and SUVs in the North American market, specifically the Nissan Armada, Nissan Titan, Nissan Quest minivan, and the Infiniti QX56 luxury sports utility vehicle from model years 2008 to 2010.

There have been instances where the brake pedal pins becoming partially detached, but no injuries or accidents have been reported, the company said.

Nissan blamed the issue on a manufacturing error. None of the vehicles currently on sale are affected, the company said.

Automakers have stepped up their efforts in recalling vehicles in recent weeks after the world’s number one automaker, Toyota Motor Co., has been entangled in separate recalls of more than 8 million vehicles. Toyota has received much criticism from lawmakers, industry experts, and consumers for its handling of recalls. It is also the defendant in numerous class-action lawsuits in the United States.
