Japanese auto giant Nissan announced pricing for the upcoming LEAF all-electric vehicle. The car would be sold for $25,000 in the United States, and for $40,000 in the Japanese market.

Deliveries will begin in December, and sales would start in late April in the United States. The LEAF is one of the cheapest cars in the up and coming all-electric segment, a market that will also include General Motors Co.’s Chevrolet Volt.

The $25,000 sticker price is net of $7,500 in federal tax credits. The car, which can go up to 100 miles on a single charge from an electrical outlet, is priced within the range of mainstream buyers.
