The genocidal persecution of Falun Gong carried out by the Chinese Communist Party and the Jiang regime has lasted for six years, from July 20, 1999 to July 2005. During these six years, there have been 2,739 confirmed cases of Falun Gong practitioners being tortured to death. 98 cases were confirmed in July 2005.

According to an August 5 Clearwisdom.net report, among the 98 death cases verified in July, 57 were female practitioners, making up 58 percent of the total, and 46 were elderly practitioners above 55 years old, making up 47 percent of the total. Their ages ranged from 29 years to over 70 years. According to another statistical report, at least 308 Falun Gong practitioners were persecuted to death between January and July 2005.

The 98 death cases were distributed over 20 provinces, cities, and autonomous regions: Heilongjiang province, 14; Hebei province, 13; Liaoning province, 13; Shandong province, 12; Sichuan province, 7; Beijing city, 7; Jilin province, 4; Hunan province, 4; Tianjin city, 3; Hubei province, 2; Henan province, 2; Inner Mongolia, 2; Guangdong province, 2; Fujian province, 2; Shanxi province, 2; Zhejiang province, 2; Guizhou province, 1; Jiangsu province, 1; Hainan province, 1; Shanghai city, 1.
