Australian rock singer, screenwriter, and actor, Nick Cave has asked pop singer Kylie Minogue to star in his new film “20,000 Days On Earth.”

The semi-fictional documentary sees reality and drama combine to mark a day-in-a-life-of 56 year old rockstar.

Cave and Minogue previously recorded a duet “Where The Wild Roses Grow” in 1995, and she appears with him in the documentary chatting with him about old times as they drive in his car.

“When we first did the thing, we had no idea whether she would come sing this song with me, ‘Where The Wild Roses Grow,’ and she jumped at it,” Cave said.

“She brought this kind of light into our lives for a few months and it was really meaningful for us and she got something from it as well,” Cave said.

The two then drifted apart and came together for the film again.

“When we’re together in the film it was really something special,” Cave said.

“20,000 Days on Earth” received its UK theatrical release on September 19, 2014.
