Nicholas Holbert has been arrested in North Carolina after the remains of missing soldier Kelli Bordeaux were found on May 14.

Bordeaux had been missing since 2012.

Holbert is being termed a person of interest by police.

Fayetteville Police Chief Harold Medlock told reporters that Holbert “shared vital information” and was at the scene when Bordeaux’s remains were found in a wooded area off River Road near I-295.

He wouldn’t confirm rumors that Holbert confessed to the crime.

“With the help of a citizen, we were able to bring this case to a conclusion of locating Pfc. Bordeaux,” Medlock said, reported WRAL.

Holbert is a registered sex offender, and is believed to have offered her a ride on the morning that she disappeared.

Bordeaux had been married for two years before she vanished but her husband was out of town at the time.
