Niall Horan and Liam Payne, the One Direction stars, reportedly have clashed with fellow member Harry Styles over the next album.

The Metro said that Styles is “at war” with Horan and Payne over the direction of the next album.

Styles wants to make One Direction’s next album more rock-like, but the others don’t favor his approach and want a more pop-oriented style.

“Harry’s dramatic plans are believed to have been hatched after hanging out with stars including The Rolling Stones, Elton John and Rod Stewart, who have urged him to take the next big step,” said a source, who was not named, close to the band, according to the Metro.

“Harry loves being in the band and respects and loves his band mates…,” the source was quoted as saying. “But he’s very ambitious and thinks they should be growing up more and becoming more credible,” the insider added.

Styles wants to make the next album less pop-sounding despite “Midnight Madness,” the last album, moving away from that sound, the source continued.

“He thinks their next album is the perfect time to create a much edgier and more rock ‘n’ roll image and he’s already writing songs that he wants them to include on the record,” the source said, adding that Payne and Horan “are worried about turning their backs on a pop sound and changing a winning formula.”

The report comes as fellow One Direction member Louis Tomlinson has been grieving the loss of his grandmother, who reportedly died over the weekend.

There was an outpouring of support from fans after his stepfather, Mark, wrote on Twitter: “The birds are singing today. Rest in Peace my beautiful Mum. I’m going to really miss you.”

Keith Tomlinson, his grandfather, wrote that “there was never one day in 47 years of being married to me that Mrs T didn’t tell me she loved me,” which was retweeted tens of thousands of times.
