This year’s Hallowe'en matchups in the English Premier League are promising excitement as Aston Villa heads off against Birmingham, Bolton faces Liverpool, and perhaps the most anticipated, Newcastle United plays Sunderland.

Aston Villa and Birmingham have but one point separating the two teams on the ladder as they head into the midday match. Both had a slow start to the season as they try to overcome their own challenges.

Villa needs to adjust to their new manager, and Birmingham has to keep up confidence and win on away games.

Bolton has two points over Liverpool on the ladder going into the match. But in head-to-head stats, Liverpool has won seven out of the 22 matches facing Bolton, while only losing three.

With last week’s win over Blackburn, Liverpool will be entering the game with both high morale and confidence. Liverpool will have to up their game however, if they are to boost themselves out of their current position on the ladder and the threat of relegation. They kick off at 4pm GMT.

Newcastle and Sunderland’s fierce rivalry will be in full swing this upcoming match. Sunderland hasn’t won against Newcastle since 2000, and has won only three out of the 16 matches they’ve played each other.

Newcastle, however, has only just come back from being relegated. Their performance in the Premier League has been quite impressive considering their time away.

Fans wait in anticipation for the game to kick off at 13:30 GMT.
