NEW YORK—New Yorkers can get twice the laughs for the same price, thanks to NYC Comedy Week which started on Monday.
NYC & Company, the city’s marketing, tourism, and partnership organization partnered with New York Comedy Festival and Comedy Central to offer two tickets for the price of one to a range of top-notch comedy acts scheduled to perform from Oct. 28 to Nov. 10..
According to CEO of NYC & Company, George Fertitta, New York is known for being the ultimate host for late-night talk shows, sitcoms, and stand-up comedy clubs.
“Comedy is embedded in the city’s culture,” Fertitta said in a company press statement. Popular late-night comedy shows like The Colbert Report, Saturday Night Live, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, The Daily Show, and others, are all taped in the city.
During the festival, some 42 stand-up, variety, musical comedy, sketch, and improvisation shows over the two weeks. Shows will be held at New York’s most iconic venues, including NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts, Brooklyn Brewery, Carolines on Broadway, Gotham Comedy Club, and The Stand, among others.
Stand-up comedians expected to entertain are Northern Discomfort, Hannibal Buress , Lemonade Stand, The Cringe Humor Show, and Mike Vecchione.
The annual festival, now in its third year, will run until November 10.
