Blaming the recent snowstorm in New York City, authorities say that a Central Park tree limb snapped and fell on a pedestrian, killing him.

On Thursday, the 56-year old man was walking near the entrance of the zoo in Central Park when he was struck in the head by a tree limb, according to an AP report.

His name was not released and he was pronounced dead on the scene. A passerby discovered him at around 3:30 p.m. The branch was weighed down by snow, causing it to snap and fall.

Authorities say at least three trees fell due to the storm, which has been dumping snow on much of the Northeast.
