New York: Reported Grenade at Times Square Subway Station Actually a Lantern

NEW YORK--A reported grenade at the Times Square subway station on Monday was actually a Chinese lantern.

A law enforcement official told NBC that the suspicious item reported on the subway tracks was actually a Chinese lantern.

The scare prompted the A, C, E station to be evacuated while police investigation the report. 

Subway service re-started at 42 Street at about 2:45, about one hour after the MTA originally alerted people that the trains would be skipping the station due to police activity.
