Harlem Democrat Charles Rangel is on the way to securing another term in office, as he beat out all Democratic challengers, including Adam Clayton Powell IV—the son of Adam Clayton Powell Jr. whom Rangel defeated in 1970. Rangel has been in hot water amid an ethics violations probe.
“I want you to know no matter what they say, I [will] go back to Washington stronger than ever,” Rangel told NY1. “And, it has nothing to do with my personality, it has everything to do with you. What you’ve done for me, you’ve done for our congressional district, you’ve done for our country.”
