The New York Mets have announced plans to move in their outfield walls, shorten their height, and paint the entire outfield fence blue.

“You just kept looking at that thing, and that left-field wall kept getting higher and higher,” Alderson said according to their website.

The most noticeable difference may be in left-field where the still-standing 16-foot wall will have an 8-foot wall in front of it, angling out to center field. The wall in center won’t change besides the color but the gap in right-center field will be cut from 415 to 398 feet.

Overall the dimensions will shave off about two percent off of the field.

The revised dimensions will clear up space enough to add 140 seats while benefiting power hitters like David Wright and Jason Bay.

Bay, who hit 36 home runs for Boston in 2009 has just 18 the past two seasons combined while Wright has averaged 18 in the three seasons in Citi after hitting out an average of 29 in his four years at Shea.
