The New York Knicks roster is pretty full but might not be completely set because several trade rumors are going around.

General manager Steve Mills addressed what he sees as the imbalance on the roster at the moment.

“We’re trying to build a roster that has a little bit better balance than it looks right now. We’re a little too heavy at the 2-guard right now. We need to have a good group of bigs who are flexible, guys who can play the 4 or 5, guys who can stretch the floor a little bit and who can pass,” he said, reported the New York Post.

“That’s going to be an important component of what we try to do as Coach Fisher builds his team and a style of play.”

One trade already went through that looks good for the Knicks--they shipped off struggling point guard Raymond Felton and defensive ace Tyson Chandler for Jose Calderon and Samuel Dalembert. Losing Chandler is tough but the trade gives them more flexibility, and a legitimate starting point guard in Calderon.

The Knicks are not shopping Tim Hardaway Jr. but the other guards--Iman Shumpert, J.R. Smith, and Shane Larkin--are all being shopped around, according to ESPN. “They’re working on trying to make a move in the backcourt,” an NBA source said.

However, Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders noted that “while the Knicks would love to move JR Smith’s money and Shump supposed attitude problem, not many teams are offering anything for them. So do you down grade to get them off the roster? Not sure thats what Phil is looking for.”

Alex Kennedy of Basketball Insiders recently said that the Knicks are interested in free agent Dahntay Jones, who will work out for about 15 teams in Las Vegas next week, including the Knicks and Clippers.
