NEW YORK--A severe thunderstorm warning that was been issued is over but a storm has still hit the city on Monday afternoon.
The warning was until 3:45 p.m..
The heaviest wind and rain should be over the city by about 4:30 p.m., said Eric Holthaus, a meteorologist, via Twitter.
The storm is beginning to turn the city dark as clouds roll through.
“At 311 pm EDT...National weather service doppler radar indicated a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. These storms were located along a line extending from Walden to 6 miles northeast of Sloatsburg to Passaic to Linden...And moving east at 40 mph,” said the National Weather Service.
A tornado watch remains in effect.
