PepsiCo has unveiled a new design for its Pepsi bottle for the first time in around 17 years.

The bottle will now take on a slightly more squarish shape with a contoured bottom half, while the label is smaller to show more of the beverage contained inside, reports Ad Age.

The new bottle will be used for all Pepsi drinks including Diet Pepsi, Pepsi Max, Pepsi Next, and standard Pepsi in 16- and 20-ounce varieties. There were also be a 12-ounce glass bottle with the new design.

“We started with single serve, because it is the package you’re seen drinking and holding,” Angelique Krembs, the vice president of marketing for Pepsi, told Ad Age. “The longer-term view is this new design system would eventually hit all touch points beyond packaging, to be honest, but certainly all other package types, as it applies.”

The new bottle design follows several moves that PepsiCo is trying to bolster sales of its soda. The company has been losing market share to Coca-Cola over the past several years, according to The Associated Press.

PepsiCo experienced a 4 percent drop in beverage volume last year, according to Fox Business, citing an SEC filing.

Shares of PepsiCo were up 3 percent to $79.15 per stock at midday on the New York Stock Exchange on Friday.
